Brighouse and Rastrick is looking for a Resident Conductor

The Brighouse and Rastrick Band invite applications for the post of Resident Conductor. The band is looking for a very strong band trainer / musical director, to work with us on a day-to-day basis to uphold the highest standards of performance. The desired candidate must also be an exceptional presenter and compere.

In return, the band offers the chance to work with an excellent team of dedicated players, and an opportunity to be an integral part of “B&R”, fulfilling a busy and high profile concert schedule throughout the country.

Alan Baer has a special hobby: It involves a motorcycle. And a tuba. And buns of steel.

The New York Philharmonic’s tuba player belongs to a club whose members do long-distance “endurance” motorcycle trips, such as his 2 1/2-day, 3,200-kilometre odyssey to Vail, Colo., for the orchestra’s performances this summer.
