Maple Leaf Brass Band

The Maple Leaf Brass Band is a group of over thirty professional-calibre musicians based in Ottawa, Ontario, Canada’s capital city. Their music has been described as “a big, glorious sound that needs no amplification.”

Steeped in the British brass band tradition, the band’s repertoire spans several centuries of music and several continents. You’ll hear pieces from many countries and styles. We feature a growing collection of Canadian works, many written expressly for the band by resident band-member composers.

1812 Overture Played On 26 Serpents

I recently went into a recording studio to do an epic overdubbing project: a performance of Clifford Bevan’s arrangment of Tchaikovsky’s “1812 Overture” for serpent ensemble. This recording, complete with bells and cannon and my playing 26 serpent parts on church serpent and contrabass serpent is available as a FREE mp3 download.
