Mill Creek Colliery Band Concert
Sunday, May 14th, 7:30pm
The Mill Creek Colliery Band is pleased to present our season finale “Proms for Moms” , Sunday, May 14th, 7:30pm at the Winspear Center for Music in Edmonton.
As this date falls on Mother’s Day, the band will pay special tribute to mothers, including special music and gifts. The band will be conducted by the well-known British-Canadian composer and conductor, Kevin Norbury. Organist, Jeremy Spurgeon, will join the band as guest soloist on the Davis concert organ.
Music will include Eric Ball’s Resurgam, Norman Bearcroft’s Songs of Newfoundland, Robert Redhead’s A Fanfare of Praise, The Flower Duet (featuring Nancy Stepney and Fordyce Pier), Rule Brittania (featuring Matt Clark on Euphonium) and, of course, the regular Proms favourite - Jerusalem, Pomp and Circumstance, and Fantasy on British Sea Songs. Our organ soloist will be featured on several works, including Joseph Jongen’s Toccata pour Grand Orgue and two organ/band arrangements by Kevin Norbury. Audience members are encouraged to bring flags, hats, etc. to help set an atmosphere reminiscent of the Last Night of the Proms
Tickets are on sale at the Winspear Centre Box Office, 428-1414. Ticket prices are $25 for adult and $20 for students and seniors (plus applicable service charges).
Come and join us in this wonderful celebration!
